Java is an object-oriented, general-purpose programming language.

There are many devices where Java is currently used. According to Oracle, 3 Billion devices run Java.

Java Editions:
  1. JSE(Java Standard Edition) - This is core Java programming which contains all libraries and APIs. JSE is used to creating standalone applications which is also known as desktop applications.
  2. JEE(Java Enterprise Edition) - Which is mainly used to develop web and enterprise applications.
  3. JME(Java Micro Edition) - Which is mainly used to develop mobile applications.
  4. JavaFX - Which is used to develop rich internet applications. It uses a light-weight user interface API.
